Boys' basketball power rankings: Week Seven

1. University Heights Blazers (11-4)
University Heights picked up a district win on the road at Fort Campbell on Thursday night, and the Blazers will have a chance to record another district win against Christian County when the two sides resume play this Wednesday after slippery floors put the game into a hiatus at halftime this past Tuesday night.

2. Christian County Colonels (10-5)
The Colonels did not play a single game this week outside of UHA. Christian County leads the Blazers 35-32 when the two teams finish the second half on Wednesday night at UHA. The Colonels will also travel to defending state champion Bowling Green on Tuesday night if the weather permits.

3. Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons (13-5)

The Maroons bounced right back after an 18-point loss to UHA with a 83-57 rout of Caldwell County in Princeton on Tuesday night. Madisonville will be off all of this week before a tune-up game at Lyon County followed by a tough road contest at Region Three contender Owensboro the next night.

4. Henderson County Colonels (7-7)
Henderson County made a major splash in its first Second Region game of the year, romping to a 75-55 victory at district rival Webster County on Tuesday night. The Colonels netted 10-of-22 3-pointers in the win over the Trojans, and this is a team that is lethal when outside shots are falling. Henderson County will return to region play when it hosts Webster County next Friday night--if the Colonels do not make up their game with Madisonville-North Hopkins before that point.

5. Webster County Trojans (12-6)

Webster County has now lost two straight games, and the Trojans' 20-point loss to Henderson County at home on Tuesday night was eye-opening. The Trojans have a bad taste in their mouths after that loss to the Colonels, but it may be a while before they see the court again--another band of snow likely wiping out Webster's game at Hopkins Central on Monday night.

6. Hopkins Central Storm (10-7)
The Storm continue to get better each and every single game. Hopkins Central has now four straight games after victories over Fort Campbell and Frederick Fraize this past week, and hopefully the winter weather does not kill Coach Lee James' squad's momentum.

7. Livingston Central Cardinals (11-8)

It was just one of those nights for Livingston Central in Eddyville on Thursday night. The Cardinals simply looked stymied on offense in a 48-39 loss to the Lyons, and Livingston has now dropped two straight District Five contests. But Livingston Central will have a chance for revenge against Lyon County on Tuesday night in the Second Region All "A" Classic--weather pending.

8. Trigg County Wildcats (9-6)
Well it wasn't pretty, but the Wildcats managed to hang on for a 51-50 victory over Crittenden County on Thursday night--denying the Rockets their first district win of the year. Trigg County has now won five out of its past seven games, and the Wildcats have certainly turned things around after going just 8-19 last year.

9. Caldwell County Tigers (7-8)

The Tigers were still flying on Cloud Nine after their 62-58 overtime win over Webster County, and Caldwell County got it handed to them in a 83-57 loss to Madisonville at home on Tuesday night. Caldwell will now look to return to the winning path with several games against District Five opponents on the docket.

10. Hopkinsville Tigers (6-10)

Hopkinsville suffered a 57-47 defeat to a very solid Warren Central team on Tuesday night, but a "close game" will not move the Tigers up in the rankings. The Tigers do have an opportunity to increase their stock if they can pick up some wins in the Music City Classic at Nashville and the Toyota Classic at Scott County this week.
