Girls basketball power rankings: Week Six

1. Webster County Lady Trojans (15-4)

Webster County is starting to click on all cylinders...especially defensively. The Lady Trojans limited Caldwell County to just 11 points after the first quarter in a 58-27 win on Saturday afternoon, and Webster has now won 11 out of its last 12 games. Webster County will host district rival Henderson County on Tuesday night--a team the Lady Trojans defeated 59-46 back on Dec. 23 in the Owensboro Invitational Tournament.

2. Hopkinsville Lady Tigers (14-4)

Hoptown has now won six out of its last seven games, and the Lady Tigers will face two major tests this week with district rival Christian County on Tuesday night at home and a road game at Graves County on Friday night. The two-headed monster of Breon Oldham and Jayla Rose continues to lead the Lady Tigers, the pair pouring in an average of 14.7 and 15.3 points per night, respectively.

3. Christian County Lady Colonels (13-4)

The Lady Colonels finally picked up a really nice signature win against Region Four contender Barren County in Glasgow on Friday night, and Christian has now won three straight. Coach Kiki Radford's club will travel to Hopkinsville on Friday night in a game where the Lady Colonels can establish themselves as the top team in the Eighth District.

4. Henderson County Lady Colonels (6-6)

The Lady Colonels picked up a 56-45 win over McCracken County on Saturday, and Henderson County enters a week filled with district contests at Webster County and at home versus Union County with plenty of momentum. Jalee Carter, Alyssa Dickson, Emilee Hope and Katie Rideout continue to pace Henderson County as all of them are averaging double figures in scoring on the year.

5. Lyon County Lady Lyons (9-3)

Lyon County currently has the fourth-best record in the region, and the Lady Lyons avenged an earlier loss to Crittenden County with a 48-39 victory over the Lady Rockets on Friday night. The Lady Lyons will play host to Region One opponent Carlisle County on Monday night before engaging in a Fifth District battle with Livingston Central on Friday night. The Lady Lyons lost to the Lady Cardinals by a score of 44-41 in Smithland back on Dec. 5.

6. Caldwell County Lady Tigers (9-5)

Caldwell County's inexperience definitely showed in 58-27 loss to Webster County at home on Saturday afternoon as the Lady Tigers scored just 11 points after the first quarter. Caldwell will look to bounce back with district contests against Madisonville-North Hopkins and Hopkins Central this week.

7. Livingston Central (9-8)

The Lady Cardinals lost at Carlisle County on Tuesday night before grinding out a 40-39 victory at Trigg County on Friday. Livingston will have what should be tune-up game at Union County on Tuesday before traveling to Eddyville on Friday night to face a Lyon County team the Lady Cardinals have already defeated this season.

8. Hopkins Central Lady Storm (9-8)

The Lady Storm were able to persevere in a defensive war against Union County with a 37-29 victory on Saturday afternoon. But Hopkins Central will face a tall task on Tuesday night when the Lady Storm travel to Owensboro to take on a very solid Apollo squad.

9. Crittenden County Lady Rockets (7-7)

The Lady Rockets bounced back from a loss to Lyon County with a win over Paducah Tilghman on Saturday. Crittenden County will host Dawson Springs on Tuesday night before traveling to Cadiz on Friday night to face off against Coach Cory Coble's Trigg County squad.

10. Trigg County Lady Wildcats (6-8)

What a heart-breaker the Lady Wildcats suffered on Friday night! Four weeks after losing by 29 points to Livingston Central in Smithland, Trigg County fell short by one point in the second meeting between the two District Five rivals this season. Trigg County will continue its homestand with Calloway County on Monday night before hosting Crittenden County on Friday night. The Lady Wildcats lost to the Lady Rockets 46-39 at Rocket Arena back on Dec. 1.
